Dawn boats on Derwent water, Keswick

15th October 2003

The Lake District is a beautiful place -  more compact and accessible than the Scottish Highlands and far less intimidating.  We are very lucky to have friends who live in this part of England and who don't mind when I dissappear off for hours at 5 in the morning.

This was my second trip to Keswick as I had travelled the 20 miles here previously to see the spot where the hallowed Lee Frost had taken one of his gorgeous pictures of these boats.

While I am happy to travel to the same places as the photographers I admire (well, why not!) I always try to take a shots that are 'my own' and while I got a shot that was quite similar to one of Lee's, this one felt far more my own.

Shots like this make a poor night's sleep and an early start so very worth it.
