This attractive boathouse is situated about 20 miles south of Braemar in the Glenisla valley, convenienly within 30 minutes hike of one of my good friends' cottage.
While spending a week at Glenisla I was determined to get in one sunrise shot of the boathouse, despite the fact it would mean rising at 4am.
I am very glad I did as the light that morning was fantastic, the wind was very calm with almost no breeze and a cold chill in the air created lovely mist over the water. I sorely wish I had organised more 4x5 film as the light got better and better over the following 2 hours and I soon had to swap to shooting digitally. This, however, is a scan of the 4x5 transparency I did manage to "bag".
