It is an hour and a half's drive from Edinburgh to Lindisfarne and getting there for dawn on an icy january morning was a hair-raising experience. My partner and I could see the sun coming up and the car was sliding round the icy corners as we tried to get to the isle in time.
Thankfully we got there just in time to set up and photograph the lovely sunrise. This was my first outing into medium format terratory and I can safely say I'm hooked. Forget autofocus, autoexposure and fancy gadgets, this is photography at its purest, and the slides you get are fantastic (digital just doesn't do them justice!)
Now - to practice spotmetering. That Ansel Adams knew what he was doing!
