Jonathan (one of my photo-buddies) here was kind enough to assist in a flash slow-sync experiment I was trying on my evening class night out.  I asked Jonthan to walk past slowly and panned the camera to follow him with the shutter open (hence the moving trails).  A blast of flash at the end picks out Jonathan crisply and completes the ghostly effect.
